...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FROM NOON TO 8PM MDT FOR THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS, AND WEST CENTRAL BASIN AND RANGE DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER... .Another round of strong west winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions this afternoon in southwestern and south-central New Mexico. Humidities will be higher than yesterday so the high fire danger will generally be limited to the southern portions of each of the zones in the Red Flag Warning. Gusty showers and an isolated storm or two may enhance winds in the Rio Grande Valley and Sandia and Manzano mountains during the afternoon hours. Winds will shift from the west to the northwest in the late afternoon behind a Pacific cold front. * AREA AND TIMING...Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106) and West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109) today from 12PM to 8PM MDT. * 20 FOOT WINDS...West to northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph on Monday. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent along and south of US 60. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
